Ullman Sails Newport Beach is now producing technical face masks!

 

Our sail making crew is hard at work sewing personal face masks to help you and our community.
The masks are designed to be used by the general public and by medical providers as a way to mitigate shortages of N95 – Our technical mask design shape allows it to be worn over an N95, this protects the N-95 in case it must be used for longer than it was intended.

The masks are available for purchase at a low price.
Tier 1 pricing is for medical personal, frontline essential workers  and for those over 65 years of age – the cost of the mask covers only the materials-labor. This is done out of respect and appreciation for those that risk their lives to save ours. Donations are welcome to help cover shipping and lower this cost.

Tier 2 pricing is for the general public – this price is just slightly above margin and helps bridge the gap until we can all get back to making sails and sailing again⛵️

Our Technical Mask is semi-rigid (shape memory) and is curved to fit comfortably over your face or even over another mask (N95, N94, etc) The materials used are not filtration rated, but we are pursuing that type of testing. The interior and exterior materials are hand washable, durable and water resistant. The interior fabric is a durable tight weave synthetic. The exterior material is a durable compressed synthetic fabric, the texture is similar to felt, but quilted and much less porous.

There is a seamed opening between these two layers to allow for filter placement. Each masks comes with a pattern so you can cut your own filter material to fit your mask. Filter material is not included. Some people use coffee filters (used by combat medics) hepa filters from vacuum cleaners, blue disposable shop towels, etc.

There is a flexible, adjustable metal nose bridge piece for a secure fit.
The masks are available in four sizes:
Small adult/ child; Medium adult; Large adult; and XL adult.

There is a choice of over the ear elastic or behind the head cotton/nylon ties.

The masks are kick butt and are re-usable. After all a dang sail loft is making them (basically the normal standard for us is to make things to last years and over 30 knots of wind)!

These are hand washable and durable enough to last for weeks and longer.

We don’t have hepa style filters yet, but the masks are ready for them.

We will include a paper pattern to cut size and shape to put filters in as needed.

The style2 (tech) fabric keeps out particulate matter and is hand or machine washable.
