Keith Magnussen

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to check out the first entry in something that I have been meaning to do for a long time.  Write a blog about all the sailing and adventures that I do and what I learn from them.

In case you do not know, or are unfamiliar with who I am, then please, let me introduce myself.  My name is Keith Magnussen,  I am a long time sailor and adventurer that has spent the last decade working for Ullman Sails Newport Beach.  For some more background please check out my bio here.  I have done many articles and stories for other publications including Sailing Anarchy, Latitude 38 and more, but never a dedicated blog of my own.

With the start of the new year upon us I asked myself a question.  How do I motivate myself and inspire myself to have the same passion now as I did a decade ago?  The answer was simple, a blog.  Not everyone gets the opportunity to sail as much as I do and it was time to start giving back a little.  There was a time when I would search for videos and pictures of Transpac just to get a taste of what it was like.  I wanted to learn from people who had done it before, and needed to know what to expect.   Hopefully the stories and pictures that I share will inspire a sailor somewhere to activate their own adventure or let them live vicariously through mine!

2018 promises to be one of the most dynamic years for myself and my sailing adventures.  I hope you will continue to check back and enjoy the stories, pictures and videos.  Some of the highlights this year will be the San Diego to Puerto Vallarta Race, MEXORC, surfing mainland Mexico (can’t all be sailing!), and the delivery back from PV which will only take us into March.
